Mmh I agree dogs are more loyal than people most of the time, but they're not the same as people. The affection a dog gives is unconditionate, while the affection a person may give is highly conditioned by your ability to gain his/her trust. And I think being able to gain an amazing person's trust and love are two of the most challenging, and yet beautiful aspects of life.
That said, I love dogs too. :D

True love is unconditional. If you have to deserve the love of a person, it means that same person will love you not because you are you, but because he/she gains something from this feeling - either material, or intellectual, or spiritual, let it be trust, security or any other. You must read the Bible or any other of the great books - true love must not be deserved (and often is undeserved indeed) and is absolutely unconditional. Sadly though it's rare to find.
