"In Norse mythology, the megingjörð (Old Norse "power-belt") is a belt worn by the god Thor. According to the Prose Edda, the belt is one of Thor's three main possessions, along with the hammer Mjolnir and the iron gloves Járngreipr. When worn, the belt is described as doubling Thor's godly strength." (From Wikipedia) Same as before: Apophysis 2.08 3D hack I owe to and for their wonderful tutorials. Thank you so much, girlies!
Terrific work! LOVE the form and composition and balance of the piece. Gold and blue are my faves and that is a beautiful mixture. Love the vertical rays coming off the center and the way they fork. Not too crazy about the diagonal white coming in cutting from top right to bottom left or the degree of blur of the center most white element. ITOH, I do like VERY much the counterpart coming from top left to bottom right. If you could achieve the same level of focus and control on the other diagonal this piece would be perfect! Beautiful use of the gradient. Take this with a grain of salt as I've only been doing fractals for a month. Some things simply may not be possible given the complexity of the variables involved and the dynamic of their interactions.
Well, I'm not a pro either. My first fractal ever was submitted on February 28, 2008 [link] . Two days later I quit, feeling that it's all too complicated for me and left DA. In the summer last year I returned to DA with my photography, then autumn months came with all the bad weather. I hate autumn and winter months in here. Rain and wind are just never-ending. So, I decided to try something different. My first try with UF [link] was encouraged by Lana and you can see a bit of progress since. My last fractal made in UF is Song of Neptune. Then on January 5 I decided to try Apo 3D, which I always wanted. This is my first try [link] . I also tried Incendia, but the bugger doesn't work properly on my PC. I guess it's because I'm running a 64-bit system. So, as you see, in fact I've been doing Apo fractals for a month, and UF for a couple of months. Thank you very much for your critique and your opinion. I really appreciate it.
You are doing some nice work. I "accidently" -as if anything is really an accident - discovered Apo Dec 31, when I stumbled into this video [link] by our fellow deviant Dinky Dau [link] . I suddenly realized everything I had done [link] wrt digital animation was sorely lacking in some fundamental way. Tracked down Apo and was somewhat distressed that it is Windows based. Found a Mac Java port and worked it on my Mac for about a week. Tried the Windows version(s) on Vista and now biting the bullet and doing Windows like a disgruntled maid . Anyway, going through tutorials and collecting like crazy trying to make sense of how it works. One side project is sifting through the various resources and trying to put them into appropriate collections in my profile. At some point try to craft some document and inventory of what is out there and share it with the world. For example I went through [link] and discovered that it is a general splattering of info. Some incredibly useful, some a complete waste of time. Hmmm, maybe getting some organization and structure on the beast eh? If you have a moment browse the folders in my faves and you'll see the beginnings of some structure. Let me know what you think. Much of this is a sanity check for myself. I figure if I go through that Splits Elliptical tutorial 10 more times I might actually understand what the heck it is doing. I am having a blast exploring. Creating new stuff every day. On the other hand I know that what I am creating presently is utter crap in comparison to what I have collected in my Favorites. Well, it's something to aspire to eh? BTW: I haven't forgotten about the Year of the Tiger contest. Holding back until I come up with something that ROARS!!! Keep up the excellent work! BTW, have you tried Tacitus [link] ? Truly a trippy little program. Trance
I tried to learn Apo without any tutorials some time ago, but had to quit. It just didn't make any sense. But then I decided, that I have to start with just one tutorial and take it from there one step at a time. The best way to learn and understand how it all works, is to make exactly the same fractal as in a tutorial and then start playing and tweaking it, but only one variable at a time. And check the results after every slightest tweak, and return to the original after that. Change one variable - check the result - undo and return to the original. Change another - check the result - undo. Move the triangle - check the result - undo. Then you will start to understand how it all works. That is how I'm learning. But now I know which variable does what. The best tutorials I found on DA were made by , and . The rest are a waste of time.
Yeah, I tend to go through a tut or two then revert to blowing through some randoms. Somehow I managed to post some 90+ fractals in the past month or so. I feel like an adventurous newbie. I suspect a lot of my works would make a fractal 'purist' puke on their monitor. OTOH, I tweak away until I like it, and that's all that really matters. If other people like my work I am thrilled, I do it for me . I have gone through several of the tutorials by Fiery-Fire, Satania and Claire Jones. Excellent! I wouldn't say the rest are a waste of time. A lot of them are. I have organized a veritable shitload of tutorial resources in my Fave folders... going through them gradually. Will probably dump many of them however there are quite a few excellent ones beyond these three. I'll follow up tomorrow with some links. STILL OWE YOU A TIGER TOO!!!!
